It's Almost Par-tay Time!

Yay, it's Friday! I'm currently staring at the gigantic list of things to get for the party before tomorrow and mapping out my shopping! I'm really excited even though it's supposed to be super cold. Jeff is looking for one of those outdoor heater things to get me to put outside for the boys. They tend to stay outside the whole time smoking cigars and talking about boy things. And us girls are smart and stay inside where it's warm drinking wine and gossiping! It works out well.
I've only got an hour left at work even though I'm already done for the day. Then we're all headed off to Happy "Hour"! I think my boss already left, HA! (It's 9:30am)

Not too much to talk about today. Except the fact that Nordstrom sent me an email today saying the watch I ordered TWO WEEKS ago isn't available anymore. They could have told me that when I ordered it! And the weird thing is, it's still on the website?

So instead, I'm going to go ahead and order my Garmin Forerunner 205! =) I'm calling around all the running stores to see if they can match Wal-mart's price so that I can get it today instead of waiting on shipping. Wal-Mart has it for about $100 less so it's definitely worth the wait if they can't match it.

She's Gonna Live!

Millie made through the night! I was really worried all last night that she would get those bandages off again and bleed to death since no one is at the vet's office at night. Leave it to me to worry about everything! Jeff keeps telling me "Don't worry honey, she'll be healthy and at home before you know it!" Yay
Tomorrow we're only working a half day because we're doing a big systems upgrade on our EDI system. So we won't be able to do much. Our boss has organized a Team Lunch and Happy "Hour". I put the quotations around hour because it ALWAYS lasts waaaaay beyond that! I have a lot to do tomorrow before the party day so I need to come up with an excuse to leave early! Would it be bad to use my injured kitten as an excuse? Hee hee
I worked out this morning even though I was super tired. Jeff and I stayed up way too late last night and I think I had a tad bit too much wine...oops. So this morning I started on the Arc Trainer, did 30 minutes, then my feet started that tingly hurt feeling that they always get when I'm on machines like that so I ran for the last 15 minutes around the track. I think I'll go back tonight and do Pilates or BodyCombat, don't really feel energized enough for both.

I've discovered a new workout tracking system called SportTracks. You can load your Garmin information into it or just enter other stuff manually, I really like it so far!
And of course I still use CalorieKing, it's such an easy site to use and really helps me stay in check.

Jeff moved some of my pictures up higher than I had them last night. He said they need to be at the eye level normal height people not short people like me! They do look better though so I guess he was right =)

Well, I guess I better finish up before I have to go to a seminar in about an hour, everyone have a great day!

Millie's Mittens

Holy traumatic day! Warning, this story will be slightly gross so if you get queezy, don't read further, I want to protect my bloggies =)

Ok, so we sent our kitten (who is quickly growing into an adult cat) to the vet yesterday to be declawed (she's slightly tearing up her mommy's house and making her mommy go crazy. So since I work from home on Wednesday's, I went to the vet to pick her up today so that I could watch her and make sure she's ok.

I pick her up and see this....I'm cracking up that I caught her face like this...

Sad, and a little funny...I've never seen a cat in yellow boots before!

As soon as my friend that works at the vet's office put her in my arms she started purring so that made me feel better knowing she was comfortable.

Then I got her home and put her on her bed in the room (yep, the guest room is kind of "her" room right now) took a couple more pictures of her and went back in my office to upload all of them and send to mom and dad and Jeff (who was busy at work).

These pictures were taken MINUTES before the chaos began. Because right after, I walked into her room and it looked like a freakin crime scene. Sorry if this grosses anyone out, because I sure was! Seriously, there was blood EVERYWHERE. They told me at the vet that she would probably get the "mittens" off as soon as she got home, but no worries, there would just be "scabbing" and she would clean it up herself. YEAH RIGHT!!

I grabbed my phone, called Jeff freaking out, told him "I can't do this!!" and he said he would be right there and to somehow put pressure on her paw and take her in the bathroom before she ruins anything in my house.

So I take her in the bathroom, pick her up, she growls at me, which she never does, and I hold her on the cold hard bathroom floor with a wet washcloth around her poor little paw. She immediately starts purring, of course. Then Jeff got there about 15 minutes later, thank goodness, and I proceeded to clean everything off the bedding, carpet, walls, floorboards, tile, and furniture. Yeah, for future reference, when this happens, cats shake their paws and it gets everywhere.

Again, I appologize, this is the grossest post I've ever written!

So we took her back to the vet and they re-bandaged her paw and we're keeping her there till Sunday because MOMMY CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!

It's not that that stuff really grosses me out, but I just can't stand it when anyone is in pain. It makes me sick to my stomach especially if I don't know how to help them.

So Vincent is happy because he gets the house all to himself for another few days. I'm happy because my house is now clean and disinfected again (and redecorated!). And hopefully Millie is happy, content, and sedated at the vet on all of the pain meds they've doped her up on. We sent her this time with her favorite red blanket to lay in (thank goodness it was that color, eww).

Decoration Updates as Promised =)

Since my cocktail party is this weekend (AHHH, freaking out, so much to do!), I spent my birthday money today on some wall art and other little odds and ends (some serving dishes & a vase). So as promised, here are the pictures! Tell me what you think, be brutally honest! As I walk through my house some of it seems out of place to me but that might just be because it's all new and I'm not used to it?

Entryway, what you see right when you walk in the door...

Guest bathroom...

Part of the living room (I still think I desperately need some curtains over this window?)...

Other side of the living room (Does the placement alright? I kind of made them match the shelves on the wall to the side)...

Master bedroom (FINALLY some art in my room!)...

And just another random vase for one of the side tables in the living room...

Phew! Nesting is hard work!

Calm Before the Storm

I'm not sure how I'm functioning today! I was in class last night and tired as usual, then we had a heated ethical debate and I got my second wind and couldn't get to sleep till after 1 in the morning. Then the alarm went off at 5am and I thought about sleeping in for another hour but I was wide awake, weird huh? So I shot out of bed, had a great workout at BodyAttack and now I'm at work...I predict my espresso crash to arrive around 2:15 this afternoon =)

I received my syllabus for my next class that starts in a couple of weeks. I'm sooo scared...I seriously got sick to my stomach reading it, I have major math anxiety...

...HELP!
I ordered my textbook last night and after looking at the details of it this morning, I realized that it's 834 pages!! Is 834 pages of Statistics REEEALLY necessary?

I am however, SO excited to watch TV tonight! =) Sad, because it's the Season Finale of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Oh how I will miss the sugar daddies, bad parenting, disregard of the bad economy, and fantastic hairstyles that wouldn't move if a tornado blew through them...
And pumped because it's the Season PREMIERE of The Real Housewives of New York City!
Bethany is my favorite, her sarcastic humor is right up my alley. She really tells it like it is, good, bad, or ugly!

So yes, I'm going to enjoy the calm before the storm tonight and relax. Then tomorrow, our professor is emailing us our Take Home Final to get started on and hopefully my book will come in this week so I can start reviewing all the statistics info that I completely forgot how to do since Undergraduate Statistics...I've slept since then after all!

Back to Reality

The fun weekend is over and I'm back at work =( I was slightly tired this morning but my espresso is making me more productive by the minute!

I had an idea to get a Fitness Challenge going at our office. Has anyone ever set one of these up? I really need some ideas. I want to get it going pretty quick because we'll have a company team for the Race for the Cure 5K and that's in about 9 weeks. I figure 8 weeks is a good time period for the challenge?

I have class tonight so I'm preparing to be reeeeally exhausted tomorrow. Luckily I'll work from home on Wednesday and maybe even Friday because we're doing a big systems upgrade and won't be able to do anything at the office. (Fingers crossed!)

I'm also going to be busy planning my cocktail party that is THIS SATURDAY (I've been way lazy with planning this thing)! I think I've got most of the food handled, now I just have to organize some stuff in my house and get everything ready. And of course figure out what to wear.

I'm really annoyed because when I looked last week, the forecast said it was going to be 55 and sunny, then when I looked this morning, I found THIS...

So annoying...stupid Arkansas weather! So much for having a bunch of people outside =(

I'm Back!

I'm back from our AWESOME weekend! We had sooooo much fun with everyone and we were definitely a little sad to leave this morning and return to reality. I've got a TON of pictures to share so let's begin!
Here are my sweet flowers Jeff got me for an early Valentine's Day...

Then we got in the car and he gave me my present, an awesome gold ring that I've had my eye on! And no, I'm not wearing it on my left hand, I had to put it on that finger to take the picture though cuz I'm not ambidextrous like that =)The first thing we did when we got to Hot Springs was go eat a yummy dinner at Fisherman's Wharf. Not all of us had arrived yet so it was just a few couples. Jeff and Aeron wore MATCHING sweaters, lovely huh? They even changed clothes later on in the night and STILL matched! Geez...After we got back from dinner everyone else started showing up then the rowdiness REALLY began!Aeron's birthday was last week too so we had a delicious cake from Rick's to enjoy! Goes very well with wine, btw...

Something made us laugh after the first shot...

The next morning we headed to Oaklawn!

The view from our box...

After the last race we headed across the street to dance and have some fun while killing time before our dinner reservations....so we took more pictures of course!I seriously don't think I stopped laughing all weekend...

The only big winner out of our group that day, counting his winnings at dinner...

I love my girls so much!
